Ed Wood wins third Lanarkshire 

match-play title at Hamilton

Ed Wood of Crow Wood won his third Lanarkshire match-play title with a one-hole victory over Gordon Yates at Hamilton Golf Club.  Ed birdied the third to go one ahead but, unusually for him, he lost four in a row to be three down. 

Gordon gave one back at the ninth with a three putt and the momentum swung back towards Ed. He won  the 12th, 15th and 16th to edge one ahead and two halves at  17 and 18 got the job done.

This is Ed’s third win and he has appeared in last three finals, winning two of them. Ed and Gordon are both in Lanarkshire’s six-man team for the Area Team Championship at Dalmahoy in September.
