Japanese player wins St Andrews Boys' Open; Junior Ladies

Open title goes across the Border

Japanese visitor Gaku Tsukamoto won the St Andrews Boys' Open scratch tournament for the Merchants Cup, beating John Paterson (St Andrews New) by 2 and 1 in the final over the Old Course.
The Murray Mitchell Trophy handicap section was won by Thomas Craig (Falkirk). Playing off six of a handicap,he beat Finlay Le Bouille (Cullen) (6) by 4 and 3 in the final.
In the St Andrews Junior Ladies Open tournament scratch final, Briony Bayles (Bishop Auckland) knocked out the favourite and top seed Alison Muirhead (Emirates) by 2 and 1 in the morning semi-finals.
Then she beat Jessica Bailey (Kirby Muxloe) by one hole in the final.
The Girls' Open Quaich, played under handicap, was won by Jodie Taylor, who plays off 12 at Downfield. She beat Ellen Caton, a 17-handicapper at St Regulus, by one hole in the final.

Semi-finals - Thomas Craig (Falkirk) (6) bt Gabriel Beagrie (Inverallochy) (9) 4 and 3, Finlay Le Bouille (Cullen) (6) bt Sean Benson (West Lothian) (5) 1 hole.
Final - Craig bt Le Bouille 4 and 3.

Final - Bayles bt Bailey 1 hole.
Girls' Open Quaich
Semi-finals - Jodie Taylor (Downfield) (12) bt Julia Kerrigan (Hendon) (9) 2 and 1, Ellen Caton (St Regulus) (17) bt Adel Watt (Cookridge Hall) (9) 2 holes.
Final - Caton bt Taylor 1 hole.
