John Fraser leads Seniors' Amateur Championship
By ELSPETH BURNSIDE
Royal Burgess captain John Fraser shot a second successive 72 to lead the Seniors Amateur Championship at Formby.
Out last, the former shinty player stood on level par 144 and one shot ahead of US Seniors Champion, Chip Lutz. He hit a 71.
Downfield’s Graham Bell was the next best Scot on three over par and two off the lead with a round to play.
“I
started slowly with there bogeys in the first four holes,” admitted
Fraser, who was in the last match out. “But then I had a run of three
birdies and I should have had another at the last. I missed from six
feet.
In rough, windy conditions, Bell put in a strong finish with birdies at the 16th and 17th for a 75.
