Dornoch exile Jimmy Gunn did not get the fast start he was hoping for at the Web.com Tour Qualifying School Stage 2 four-round eliminator at Bear Creek Golf Club, Murrieta, California

Gunn shot a three-over-par 75 to be lying joint 38th in a field of 75 players at the end of the first day.

He is 10 shots behind the leader, Anthony Paolucci from California.

Only the leading 18 and ties after 72 holes will go forward to the final qualifying school in Florida next month.
