Moultrie leads with a 71 at windy Monifieth

By ALASDAIR MACGREGOR
The Scottish Senior Golfing Society's season got under way today with the first round of the 36-hole spring meeting being contested by a field of over 140 competitors at Monifieth Links.
A strong North-westerly wind, squally showers and some tricky pin placings made scoring very difficult.

Paul Moultrie, pictured, who plays off +2 at Royal Troon, is the leader after the first round with a level par round of 71 which included birdies at the sixth, 15th and 18th and bogeys at the short 11th, 13th and 16th in halves of 35 and 36.

Moultrie is one shot clear of Laurie Chancellor (Inverness), Graham Bell (Downfield) and Colin Halcrow (Windyhill),  all of whom scored 72 against a CSS of 74.
