McNeese State win Southland title for
second year in row
McNeese State University, Lake Charles, Louisiana retained the Southland Conference men's championship at Stonebridge Ranch Country Club's Dye course by four strokes.
The team, which included Duncan McNeill from Annan, totalled 918, four ahead of runners-up Stephen F Austin State with Sam Houston State (923) third in a 10-team line-up.
McNeill shot rounds of 79, 85 and 76 for a total of 240, 24 over par for the 7,219yd course. He finished T30 in a field of 50 competitors, 15 behind the joint winners Val Almendarez (Houston Baptist) (73-75-77 for nine-over 225) and Albert Badosa-Soler (Nicholls State) (72-75-78 for 225) in a high-scoring contest.
