SUPERMAC WINS EUROPRO TOUR FINAL
Q SCHOOL TITLE AND £2,400
Jamie McLeary, Peterhead-born tour pro attached to Dalmahoy Hotel and Country Club, Edinburgh, guaranteed himself a start in all the tournaments he wants to play in on the 2017 PGA EuroPro Tour by heading the 98 qualifiers for the final round of the Final Q School at Frilford Heath Golf Club, Oxfordshire.
McLeary had rounds of 72, 67 and 67 for a 10-under-par total of 206 - two shots ahead of joint runners up James Fraser (Wales), Will Enefer (England) and Dermot McElroy (Northern Ireland).
McLeary, who earned a cheque for £2,400, had two eagle 3s in his second-round card and produced another at a different hole, the par-5 fourth in his final circuit.
He also birdied the second, fifth, eighth and 15th in halves of 32-35.
McLeary said. “I’ve been playing quite well for a
couple of months, so I thought I’d come down and give it a shot, so I am
ecstatic to get the win. It is good to win an event because it gives you
confidence going forward.”
“I was actually going to quit playing golf in
October. I came off the European Tour and could not see myself getting any
better. I was hitting it terrible ;
"But I have been working with my coach
since then and I’ve noticed a change. My strategy is better, my patience is better
and today I didn’t hit the ball as well as the first two days, but, I still
managed to shoot a good score and that’s down to my patience.” McLeary added.

gets underway at Close House. The Lookers Championship takes place from
Wednesday, April 26, concluding on Friday, April 28.
Ayrshire player Michael Stewart (Troon Welbeck) will also be high up the pecking order for competitive outings after tieing for 19th place with rounds of 71, 74 and 67 for four-under 212. He had six birdies in halves of 34 and 33 but finished just outside the prizemoney list.
Fraser Moore (Glenbervie), who only just survived the second-round cut, boosted his ranking to joint 33rd on 215 with seven birdies in a round of four-under 68, after earlier efforts of 75 and 72.
Jordan McColl (Kingsbarns Golf Academy), who started the tournament well with a 69, followed that with scores of 76 and 71 for a T40 finish on level par 216.
Paul Robinson (Largs) and Alva amateur Lawrence Allan tied for 58th place in the field of 98. Robinson scores 71, 75 and 72, Allan 71 73 74.
