Beins means business at EuroPro Tour


Final Q School, leads by 2 after Round 1


Hendrik Beins (Wayne Roets Golf Academy) leads after the first-round of the Final Stage of Qualifying School for the HotelPlanner.com PGA EuroPro Tour.
The German leads by two shots, after six birdies  in a stunning bogey-free 66 (-6) in his opening-round on the Blue Course at Frilford Heath Golf Club, Oxfordshire.

Three players are two shots behind Beins after carding impressive first-rounds of 68 (-4). Will Enefer (Retail Furniture Ltd, Michael Saunders and Nick Watson (Stoke Rochford Golf Club) all carded rounds of 68 around the Blue Course, in windy conditions. Saunders provided the stand-out moment of the day though, with an eagle three, at eight.
Players are competing to earn the highest possible category on the 2017 HotelPlanner.com PGA EuroPro Tour. ALl those who have progressed to Final Stage have already earned at least a category 14, with golfers making the cut at the Final Stage cut earning a minimum category 10 and the top 30 earning a category 3.
Steve Robins (Hull Golf Club) is the highest placed amateur after a noteworthy 72 in his opening-right, to leave him four shots behind the German. Smith had a mixed round, birding four and bogeying two holes, to leave him in a tie for eighth.
240 golfers play one round each on the Red and Blue Courses at Frilford Heath on Wednesday, April 4 and Thursday, April 5 before a cut to the leading 80 players and ties play a concluding 18 holes on the Blue Course on Friday, April 6.
