Sandy Scott finishes T46 but Texas Tech do well to claim third place

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
Sandy Scott from Nairn, a first-year student at Texas Tech, shot rounds of 74, 78 and 74 for a 12-over-par total of 228 in the Southern Highlands Collegiate over a par-72 course of 7,374yd at Southern Highlands golf course, Las Vegas in Nevada.

Sandy, pictured,  finished T46 in a field of 81 players but he did help Texas Tech (867) finished third behind Southern California (853) and Oklahoma State (863) in a field of 15 teams, which was a good performance.
Texas Tech owed their high finish to the fact that two of their players finished T3 and T73. Another finished T32. Scott and the fifth member of the team both finished T46.
It was not Sandy's best form by any means but hopefully he will retain his place in the Texas Tech team of five for the next college tournament.
He was promoted for the Southern Highlands Collegiate on the back of a T3 finish when played as an individual in the previous tournament, outscoring the five Texas Tech team whose scores did count for the team event.
