Deeside Golf Club award honorary membership to Director of Golf Frank
Coutts
NEWS RELEASE FROM DEESIDE GOLF CLUB
Frank, pictured, has been resident professional of
the club since April 1, 1989, subsequently being appointed Director
of Golf in
2004.
His association with Deeside began in
1970 when he joined as a junior member. He won
the Junior Championship three years in a row between 1975 and 1977 and represented
the club with distinction as an amateur at junior, youth and full levels before
turning pro in 1983.
Frank became assistant professional to Peter Smith at Murcar in
December 1983, subsequently serving as Head Pro at Murcar when
Peter moved on to Newmachar.
And, in 1989, Frank returned home to Deeside and has continued to serve the
interests of the members ever since.
Club captain Scott Kelman, who presented the
award to Frank at the 114th AGM of Deeside Golf Club, commented:
“Frank has
always been a tremendous ambassador for Deeside Golf Club. He has always been
held in high esteem by our members and continues to work tirelessly for them
and for the benefit of the Club.
“It was
totally fitting and with great pleasure to award Honorary Membership of Deeside
Golf Club to Frank in recognition of his commitment, loyalty and the contribution
he has made to our Club and members over so many years.”
Frank, who was in the running for selection to the GB and I Walker Cup team before he turned pro, said:
"It is a huge honour to be made an honorary member of Deeside Golf Club. There are not all that many names on the list. I received my first golf lesson in 1970 from Graham Everett, the club pro at that time.
"How time flies! That's 47 years ago. But I've enjoyed every minute of it."
