Connor Syme one off the pace with an


opening 67 in S Africa

Connor Syme is one off the pace in second place after the first round of the African men's amateur championship at Leopard Creek Country Club, South Africa.

The Drumoig player,  pictured, shot a six-birdie round of five-under-par 67 to be the nearest challenger to the leader, South African teenager Christo Lamprecht, who had a bogey-free 66.
Eric McIntosh (Brunstfield Links), last year's Scottish boys' U18 championship is tied for third place with a 69 which included six birdies and also three bogeys.
