GUNN FINISHES 2nd IN BAHAMAS and WINS $64,800

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
An inward half of 40 in a third-round 73, almost certainly cost Jimmy Gunn victory in this week's Web.com Tour event, the Bahamas Great Abaco Classic at the Abaco Club.
Gunn shot a fourth-round, six-birdie 68 (33-35) for a 13-under-par total of 275, finishing second, three shots behind the winner, American Andrew Landry (71-68-66-67).
Gunn, from Dornoch but now based at Scottsdale, Arizona, led the field by four shots when the third round was halted prematurely on Tuesday because of fading light.
Gunn, pictured, had three bogeys and a double bogey when he resumed his third round this morning (Wed) and squandered his big lead, dropping to fifth place.
The fourth round was hurriedly started after all the third-round scores were in and the Scot hauled himself up again into second place but the difference between his third-round score (73) and the 66 of the winner proved too big a gap to close over the final round.
The big consolation for Jimmy is that he has now won $67,320 this year and is third in the Web.com sTour's top 25 money list for 217. If he stays in the top 25 until the end of the season Gunn will gain automatic promotion to the US PGA Tour.
Gunn's two Web.com Tour events in the Bahamas earned him $2,520 for T39 and then $64,800 for 2nd place this week, making a combined $67,320. Nice work if you can get it.
