FOG CUTS W LOTHIAN PRO AM TO 15

HOLES,  BROWN WINS WITH A 56 (-4)

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
The fog that forced a 2hr 35min suspension of play in the Scottish men's amateur stroke-play at Gullane also played havoc with the Tartan Tour pro-am at West Lothian Golf Club.
Tournament director Roy Murray explained:
"We had a lengthy delay because of the fog and then decided that the only way we could finish the tournament today was to make it a 15-hole competition by not playing the 16th, 17th and 18th."
Montrose assistant pro Graeme Brown won the £1,166 first prize with a score of 56, four under par for the 15 holes.
He won by one stroke from Paul O'Hara (Clydeway Golf), Paul McKechnie (Braid Hills), Paul Robinson (Largs) and Greg McBain (Newmachar). They all earned £644.
McBain made an extra £140 by leading the Spraystore No 6 team of
Peter Cowan, Alec Grant and Chris McGee, all 11-handicappers, to a score of 15-under 45.
