Barry Hume sets Scottish Champion of Champions pace with a 10-under 61

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
Kenny Gallacher (East Kilbride) holed his  second shot at the par 4 17th for an eagle 2 in the first round of the first big men's amateur domestic tournament of the season, the Scottish Champion of Champions Tournament over 72 holes at Leven Links, Fife.
He finished with a birdie 3 to return a one-under-par 70 - nine shots behind the first-round pacemaker, former Scottish amateur 0champion Barry Hume (Haggs Castle) whose 61 was also 10 shots better than the CSS for Round 1.

Hume, pictured, led by four shots from the 2015 Scottish amateur champion, left-hander Robert MacIntyre (Glencruitten).
Barry's brilliant effort won't stand as a course record as preferred lies were in operation.
Hume has never won the Champion of Champions tournament but he did win over the Leven links last autumn - the Leven Gold Medal no less!
So he has just carried on today where he left off last autumn.
