Police plea after ram raid on Deeside Golf

Club  pro's shop late Thursday night

A car was used by thieves to break through a golf club shop window on the western outskirts of Aberdeen.
Police officers were alerted to the incident at Deeside Golf Club in Bieldside at about 11:25pm on Thursday.

Golf clubs and clothing were stolen from the clubhouse shop of director of golf Frank Coutts (pictured). No estimated value has yet been put on the haul.
Inspector Kenny McGeough said: "I would ask anyone who saw anything suspicious to contact the force as soon as possible."
He added: "It is possible the car used could have been spotted in the car park from houses overlooking the area.
"Likewise, if you noticed anyone or anything unusual or suspicious in the shop or golf club in the days before, I would urge you to get in touch.
"I would also ask the public to look out for any suspicious golf clothes or clubs for sale in the coming days - it could well be the stolen goods."
Frank Coutts said: "The thieves would have been in an out of the shop within a matter of minutes. They would have known where to get the goods they were going to steal and the "job" would have been over in next to no time.
"The golf clubs are probably down in somewhere like Manchester by now, being sold for peanuts. The way we fold the sweaters on the shop shelves, the thieves might not have been aware that they had the Deeside Golf Club logo on their sleeves.
"When they find that out, they will probably dump them somewhere."
Frank is philosophical about the burglary: "It's not a nice thing to happen but nobody's dead as a result of it and we just have to accept that these things happen, and move on."
Wonder if Deeside Golf Club's insurance company will regard it in quite the same light! Higher premium coming up when it's up for renewal?
+The Deeside incident is a timely warning to ALL golf clubs to instal some sort of construction or barrier that would prevent ram raiders from breaking into their pro's shop.
