Peter Smith loses ground, Michael Sim climbs

to T15 in New Zealand Open

Peter Smith has slipped down to T39 after the third round of the New Zealand Open but Aberdeen-born Australian Michael Sim has risen to T15 at the Queenstown tournament where the scenic backdrop of mountains must remind both of the Scottish Highlands.
Aberdeenshire-born (Udny Station) Smith has had rounds of 70, 69 and 74 for three-under 213 ... good going for the oldest man in the field at the age of 56!

Sim, who spent his early years at the Aberdeen suburb of Westhill, has scored 73, 67 and 69 for seven-under 209.
Michael, pictured right,  is 11 shots behind the leader from Japan, Hideto Tanikhara (69-66-63 for 17-under 198.
He leads by two from Aussie Matthew Griffin (70-65-65 for 200) with three players sharing third place on 205, so the two front runners have separated themselves from the field.
