Standing room only for caddie Dave
Renwick's funeral service at East Calder
FROM BERNIE MAGUIRE
Secretary of the Association of Golf Writers
Given the strong interest at the passing of caddie Dave Renwick I wanted to write a few paragraphs about his funeral service today.
It
was very clear and crisp morning but with standing room only in the
church at East Calder, just to the west of Edinburgh, for the funeral
service to commemorate Dave's life.
In fact, those attending spilled over into the vestibule area and onto the steps leading into the church.
Representing
the AGW was former Chairman Lewine Mair along with AGW Committee member
Martin Dempster, who had visited Dave at his nearby home late last
year, and myself.
Golfers
present included Stephen Gallacher, Ritchie Ramsay, Chris Doak and
Alastair Forsyth.
If my facts are correct, Dave's last victory was
with Alastair at the 2008 Madeira Islands Open.
Of
course, many of Dave's caddieing colleagues and friends were present,
including Billy Foster, 'Wobbly', Damien Moore, former Caddy Association
President Gerry Byrne and Ryan McGuigan, to name a few.
Once again, the Association of Golf Writers extends its condolences to Dave's family, including his six children.
Attached is a picture of the booklet presented to those attending.

Secretary,
