Nigel Parker "Climber of Week" in NE Alliance

Last Wednesday's "skating rink" conditions for the North-east Alliance at Newburgh Golf Club were bordering on the unplayable for most of the field of 71.

But not for Nigel Parker (Murcar Links), pictured. He is in line to have his handicap of 15 slashed after returning a gross 76 for a net 61 to win Class 2 of the Handicap section.
That enabled Nigel to jump up nine places to No. 4 in the Class 2 Order of Merit, sponsored by the Brimmond Bistro, the public restaurant at the Craibstone Golf Club clubhouse.
Parker was the "Climber of the Week" in the three Alliance's three Order of Merit tables which will see the 1-2-3 in each at the end of the season winning prizes.
Parker still has a bit to go to head the Class 2 table leader, Stephen Ross (Hazlehead).
There's a new leader in Class 1 with David Leslie (Bon Accord) dislodging Gavin Chalmers (Alford). There are only 17pt between them so that's going to be an intriguing struggle over the last few weeks of the Alliance season.
Professional John Duff (Newmachar) shared first place at Newburgh on Wednesday and he has closed to within 215pt of leader and fellow pro Kevin Duncan (Paul Lawrie Golf Centre) at the top of the Scratch Order of Merit table. 
Laura Murray (Paul Lawrie Golf Centre) shot up six places to No 9 in the table with her good performance at Newburgh where she was joint fourth.
