JAY TAYLOR OUTSIDE TOP 10, MARK HILLSON WITHDRAWS
SCOTS EMPTY HANDED AFTER
ALGARVE PRO TOUR EVENT
Jay Taylor and Mark Hillson, the only two Scots in the field OF 33 for this week's Algarve Pro Tour 36-hole event at Boavista Golf Club near Lagos, had unrewarding experiences.
Taylor shot 73 and 71 for a two-over-par total of 144 and finished tied 15th, four shots outside the prizemoney allocated to the top 10.
Hillson withdrew after a first-round 77.
Winner of the £1,500 first prize was Englishman James Maw with scores of 62 and 69 for 11-under 131. He won by three shots from Germany's Max Eichmeier who earned £1,000 with 68 and 66 for 134.
