BORROWMAN STAYS IN THE MIX,

ONE BEHIND THE LEADERS

Dollar's Scott Borrowman maintained his challenge for the European individual amateur title with a second-round 71 for a three-under-par tally of 139 over The Duke's Course, near St Andrews.

The Palmer Cup player (pictured) and former Scottish youth cap, who recently reverted to being a full-time amateur, is only one shot behind the four players sharing the lead on 138 - rising Italian star Renato Paratore (69-69, Laura Russka (Finland) (67-71), England's Ben Stow (Rushmore) (67-71) and Ireland's Gary Hurley (West Waterford) (66-72)
The next best Scot after Borrowman is Connor Syme, whose father, the Dumfries and County Golf club professional, recently bought the Drumoig driving range with a view to giving his son unlimited access to five-star practice facilities.
Syme is in joint 14th place with rounds of 73 70.
