Paul Lawrie finished a close-up joint third on his debut in the Farmfoods British Par-3 Championship at Nailcote Hall, Warwickshire today.
The bumper first prize of £25,000 was won by Eddie Pepperell who beat a lesser known Englishman, Jack Hamblett, at the third hole of a sudden death play-off. Pepperell chipped in for a winning birdie 2.
Pepperell and Hamblett finished seven-under-par 101, Pepperell with rounds of 52 and 49 against a par of 54.
Hamblett scored 51 and 50.
Lawrie and Gary Wolstenholme shared third place, only one shot behind the play-off participants on 102 in a field of 56 players.
Lawrie had the lowest score of the 36-hole tournament, an eight-under-par 46 in his second round after leaving himself with a lot of work to do following a first-round two-over 56.
Wolstenholme, who had a hole in one in his second round, scored 54-48.
