LEADING MATCH-PLAY QUALIFIER THROUGH TO LAST FOOR

REID WINS BATTLE of PAST CHAMPIONS

TO EARN PLACE IN LINKS SEMI-FINALS

Leading qualifier Barry Reid beat Stewart Finnie in an all-Caledonian battle of former champions in tonight's quarter-finals of the Aberdeen Links championship at the Kings Links.
Reid was the winner by 2 and 1 and will play Ron Evett (Northern) in Monday's first semi-final.
The Reid-Finnie tie was a seesaw affair. Reid won the first three holes then lost the next three. Reid then regain the initiative by winning the eighth and nine to be two up at the turn.
Finnie halved his deficit by winning the 13th but lost the 15th and halves at the 16th and 17th clinched victory for Reid.
The second semi-final will feature Bon Accord's Chris Somers and A Doig (Caledonian).
In the quarter-finals, Somers won by 2 and 1 against clubmate Matty Greig who, on Wednesday night, defeated title-holder Barrie Edmond, winner
of the championship three times in the past four years.
Doig earned his place in the last four with a 4 and 3 win over D Leslie (Northern).
