DUNCAN STEWART SHARES SCHEME ALMOST A SELL-OUT AGAIN

By DUNCAN STEWART
Once again my shares scheme has been a huge success. At the moment I have 110 different share holders and I only have about 5 shares left to sell from the 300 that were available.
I would like to give everyone who has contributed to the scheme a massive thank you and it is going to be a huge help to fund my season on the Challenge Tour. This year my main shareholders who have bought advertising are as follows:
Paul Lawrie Foundation
Golfwarehouseuk.com
Genesis Choice Insurance
Scottish Counselling Services
A W Laing Ltd Joiners and Building Contractors

You can view my other shareholders on my website which is www.duncanstewartgolfer.co.uk

I have played one event so far this year in Kenya. Although I missed the cut it was a great experience and it was good to get the season under way. In the next two months I have four events lined up before the next Challenge Tour event - two in Morocco on the Mena Tour and 2 in the United States on the NGA Tour.
Hopefully these tournaments will get me competition sharp for the resumption of the Challenge Tour.
If anyone is interested in snapping up the remaining shares please contact me at duncanstewartgolf@hotmail.co.uk

Thanks
Duncan Stewart

GO-AHEAD FOR £100million GOLF RESORT AND HOTEL NEAR GIANT'S CAUSEWAY

FROM THE DAILY TELEGRAPH WEBSITE
Work on a £100 million golf resort near the famous Giant's Causeway on Ulster's north coast is due to get under way later this year after a landmark ruling at the Northern Ireland High Court today.
Mr Justice Weatherup dismissed a legal challenge by the National Trust which claimed the development would have a major environmental impact on the UNESCO designated World Heritage site.
More than a decade after the initial planning application was lodged, the judge endorsed a decision last year by the Northern Ireland Environment minister Alex Attwood to give the go-ahead for a championship course and five-star hotel outside the village of Bushmills, Co Antrim, a mile and a half from the Causeway, one of the country's main tourist attractions.
The ruling was a personal triumph for the US-based Northern Ireland businessman Dr Alistair Hanna who is heading up the investment and advisory group involved in the Bushmills Dunes golf resort and spa scheme, and which he claims could create up to 360 direct jobs and an estimated 300 more through suppliers and construction.
The Trust launched a fierce campaign of resistance because of the close proximity of the proposed 18-hole championship course, luxury hotel and holiday accommodation to the Causeway and sought a judicial review of the minister's decision to approve the application – one of the most significant since the power-sharing executive was established in Belfast.
Dr Hanna was not in court for today's judgment, but afterwards declared work would begin as soon as possible. It is likely to begin towards the end of the summer and take at least two years, maybe three, to complete.
He said: ''Not only will the resort provide a world class golf links course and facilities attracting thousands of visitors each year, it will also protect the vulnerable topography of the coastal area which has been left vulnerable following decades of neglect.''

DAVID LAW NOSEDIVES OUT OF AMELKIS OPEN IN MOROCCO

David Law nosedived out of the German PGA's Pro Golf Tour event, the Amelkis Open at Marrakesh, Morocco - and joined Paul Lawrie Golf Centre team-mates Jordan Findlay and Philip McLean on the sidelines.
Law looked to be in a challenging position after an opening round of 70 but a triple bogey 6 at the short seventh derailed his second-round effort. Birdies at the 14th and 15th were too little too late as he finished in 75 for 145 - one shot too many beat the cut.
Bernd Ritthammer (Germany) led the qualifiers with 64-67 for 13-under-par 131.
Findlay (77-73) missed the cut on 150 and McLean (75-78) on 153 was even wider off the mark.

ROOKIE LAURA WINS HER FIRST PRIZEMONEY AS A PRO

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
Colin@scottishgolfview.com
Rookie pro Laura Murray has won her first prize money since she quit the amateur ranks a couple of weeks ago.
Last year's Scottish women's amateur champion from Alford,
now playing out of the Paul Lawrie Golf Centre, shot an
excellent three-under-par 66 to tie with Royal Aberdeen amateur
Jim Emslie in today's North-east Alliance played in comparatively warm sunshine and under bright blue skies at Craibstone Golf Club, Aberdeen.
"It's a long time since I scored in the 60s so to do it so soon after turning professional, gives my confidence a big boost," said Laura who will play on the Ladies European Tour's developmenatal circuit, LETAS and the new Paul Lawrie Scottish Ladies Open Tour in her rookie season.
"I holed a lot of putts out there - seven birdies, including three in a row from the 15th, but I also had a double bogey 6 after landing in a bush at the 13th. I still could have won outright but for being long with my No 9 iron approach at the last and ending up in a bunker, which cost me a bogey 5."
Murray's other birdies came at the second, fifth, ninth and 10th in halves of 32 (three under) and 34 (level par).
She was four under par when marking up her first bogey at the 12th followed by the double at the next.
Jim Emslie plays off two of a handicap at Royal Aberdeen and he had a much steadier 66 than Laura - birdies at the first, fourth, 11th and 16th with only one bogey, at the fourth, in halves of 34-32.
At the head of a field of 70 players, Laura will receive roughly £90 in cash and Jim the equivalent in a prize voucher.
They finished a shot ahead of Sam Kiloh (Portlethen), just recently turned 18 years of age and winner of the North-east District boys' stroke-play title last year.
Kiloh parred the first nine holes and then birdied the 12th, 13th, 16th and 17th with offsetting bogeys at the 10th and 14th in an inward 32.
Kiloh has the US college golf scouts on his trail - and no wonder. He is a great prospect.

RANFURLY CASTLE LAUNCHES ENTERPRISING SCHEME

Ranfurly Castle Golf Club introduces innovative new membership scheme

MIND THE GAP

Ranfurly Castle Golf Club has launched a new and flexible membership initiative aimed at encouraging more people into the game.
The Golf Access Pass (GAP) has been created to meet the needs of those who want to enjoy the social and health benefits of playing golf, but who cannot commit the time or resources to a traditional golf club membership.
GAP is also an ideal stepping stone for those starting out in the sport who want to build up their confidence and knowledge of the game before graduating to a full club membership.
Based on a unit system, those wishing to take part in the GAP will be issued with 100 units, at a cost of £3.49 each, equating to a total of £349.
Each time they play at Ranfurly Castle, host of this year’s Scottish Girls Stroke Play Championship, they will use up a set amount of units. For example, a midweek round of golf will cost six units, while a weekend game will be eight units.
GAP golfers play until they have used up all of their units, and may top up at any time they wish. (minimum top-up is 12 units)
Ranfurly Castle, situated in the picturesque village of Bridge of Weir, is an undulating moorland course boasting wonderful views of the surrounding countryside and vistas of the Scottish mountains to the north.
Just 20 minutes from Glasgow city centre, the course is regarded as the finest moorland track in the West of Scotland and has hosted numerous events in the past including the Scottish Seniors Championship.
The clubhouse is reminiscent of Rennie McIntosh in style and offers a full bar and catering service to members and visitors.
PGA Advanced Professional Tom Eckford, is on hand to help with any enquiries about the GAP and will be happy to discuss any questions you may have.

For further information contact Tom on 01505 614795 or email tomeckford@btconnect.com.
