NE DISTRICT SENIORS CHAMPIONSHIP CANCELLED
The North-east District Seniors Championship, due to be played at Turriff Golf Club on Friday (July 26), has been cancelled due to lack of entries.
"I think it was 1989 that the first North-east District Seniors Championship was played and has been every year since then," said NE District secretary George Young.
"I really don't know why this year should be so different. Maybe too many senior opens; some may think the North-east Seniors is the same as the North-east District Seniors and they are excluded. "Who knows? But very disappointing and maybe we need to circulate golf clubs nearer the date rather than the start of the season."
