HENRY HUNGRY FOR MORE CHALLENGE TOUR SUCCESS

FROM MICHAEL GIBBONS
Fresh from his third place finish in Spain last week, Scott Henry will lead the Challenge Tour’s ten-strong tartan contingent into battle in Austria this week at the Kärnten Golf Open presented by Mazda.
Henry, who joined the Challenge Tour this year following last year’s success on the third-tier Alps Tour, fired a brilliant final round 64 in Spain last week to take third place and leap to 21st position on the Challenge Tour Rankings – one spot outside the all-important top 20 that will earn European Tour cards at the end of the season.
The 25 year old from Clydebank, a former Scottish Strokeplay champion, is just one place behind Callum Macaulay and two ahead of Chris Doak in the Rankings, and both men are with Henry at the Golf Club Klagenfurt-Seltenheim in the stunning Carinthia region of south east Austria for the €160,000 event.
The other seven Scots in the field – James Byrne, Gavin Dear, Jack Doherty, Scott Drummond, David Law, Andrew McArthur and Jamie McLeary – are all looking to kick-start their seasons with the kind of strong performance that would propel them alongside Henry, Macaulay and Doak at the business end of the Rankings.
