OPTICAL EXPRESS PRO GOLF TOUR EVENT MOVES TO WHITEKIRK

NEWS RELEASE ISSUED BY THE OPTICAL EXPRESS PRO GOLF TOUR
The Optical Express Pro Golf Tour announced this week that Whitekirk Golf Club will host the fifth event of the Tour later this month replacing the scheduled Letham Grange Golf Club.
Tournament Director, Alan Tait commented, “The decision was taken to move the fifth event of the Tour to Whitekirk Golf Club after I met with Nick Jackson, captain of scheduled host club Letham Grange, on my recent site visit there. "While I was impressed with the great progress the members themselves have made in returning Letham Grange to its former glory, we both felt that the course, facilities and the Optical Express Pro Golf Tour would benefit from another 12 months.
"We look forward to going there in the future, however I am delighted that Whitekirk were able to step in and facilitate the Tour this year.”
Situated in the heart of East Lothian, Whitekirk Golf Club, North Berwick has a challenging par 72, 18-hole course considered one of the finest championship courses within East Lothian. Several adjustments have been made in recent years to the rocky outcrops and grassy hollows, enhancing playability.
Paul Wardell, Whitekirk Golf Professional said, "I was delighted to accommodate the Optical Express Pro Golf Tour and we look forward to welcoming them to Whitekirk on the 21st and 22nd September. Whitekirk has hosted many PGA events over the years and I am sure this will be yet another very successful tournament. I look forward to playing in the event myself, having enjoyed competing in the Tour earlier this year."
Approximately two miles from the sea, Whitekirk golf course has a links feel but the golf is played on rich, fertile, grassy fairways. The course was cleverly designed by Cameron Sinclair who used the natural water hazards and undulating East Lothian terrain to produce an enjoyable challenge for all levels of golfer. Many of the tees are elevated to make the most of the idyllic views across East Lothian.
Entries to the event at Whitekirk on Wednesday 21st and Thursday 22nd September are now being accepted online.
