CRAIG LAWRIE SHOOTS FIVE-UNDER-66 BUT NORTH WIN TEAM TITLE

The North won the team trophy at the inter-area boys' tournament at sunny Monifieth Links yesterday by the narrow margin of three strokes from the North East.
The format involved thre teams of 12 players from North, North East and Angus playing stroke-play with the 10 best scores counting for each team in both rounds.
Jordan Milne set the pace for the North over the shorter but tricky Ashludie course in the morning, opening with an eagle 2 at the first and holding on for a best of the morning 3 under round of 65 to help the North lead North East by 15 strokes at halfway.
The score of the day came from Paul Lawrie's son Craig representing the North East. He scoring a magnificent, five under par 66 on the tough Medal course in the afternoon, the best score by SEVEN strokes!
This helped the North East close the gap significantly but in the end they were just three strokes short.
