LAURIE PHILLIPS MAKES IT SIX IN A ROW AT CRUDEN BAY OPEN

Home course player Laurie Phillips won the Steadfast Scotland Cruden Bay Challenge Cup scratch tournament for a record sixth year in succession today over the Buchan club's links.
The final was a repeat of last year with Phillips, the top seed, beating Nick McAndrew (Royal Aberdeen) by 4 and 3. In the morning quarter-finals, Phillips had beaten Nick's brother Donald.
Today's results:
SCRATCH
Semi-finals - L Phillips (Cruden Bay) bt D McAndrew (Royal Aberdeen) 2 and 1, N McAndrew (Royal Aberdeen) bt C Gilbert (McDonald Ellon) 1 hole.
Final - Phillips bt N McAndrew 4 and 3.

HANDICAP - CLASS 1
Semi-finals - H Naysmith (West Linton) bt S Grant (Cruden Bay) 5 and 4, D Bell (Meldrum House) bt R Willox (Cruden Bay) 1 hole.
Final - Bell bt Naysmith 3 and 1.

HANDICAP - CLASS 2
Semi-finals - S Wilson (Cruden Bay) bt C Watson (Cruden Bay) 1 hole, W Wood (Cruden Bay) bt C Adams (Cruden Bay) 4 and 3.
Final - Wilson bt Wood 2 holes.
