SHOCK RESULTS IN ANGUS BOYS MATCH-PLAY CHAMPIONSHIP

There were shocks and surprises galore in the Angus boys matchplay championship today at Kirriemuir Golf Club. In the morning first round ties, two time defending champion and two time Elie boys champion Grant Bowman was defeated by Monifieth clubmate Tom Ogilvie. Local hope Ross Dallas came back from dormie 2 down to win at the 19th to gain some revenge over Ewen Matthew after Ewen got the upper hand in their recent junior club championship final match.
Biggest surprise package of the day came in the afternoon quarter finals where 13 year old Gavin Petrie of Forfar produced rock solid golf to win by 4&3 against championship favourite Connar Cook from Caird Park. Connar obviously dissapointed still made time to praise young Gavin on his performance. Greg Urquhart progressed at the expense of strokeplay champion Callum Rennie.
