DAVID GARDNER TOP SEED FOR SCOTTISH SENIORS' MATCH-PLAY

IAN HUTCHEON DISQUALIFIES HIMSELF Lothians golfers led the way in the qualifying competition for the 32 places in the Scottish senior men's open amateur match-play championship at Monifieth Links. Broomieknowe's David Gardner shot a splendid second-round 67, four under par, to cement his position as the No 1 seed on 138. Fraser McCluskey (Royal Burgess) is seeded to meet Gardner in the final after returning a 70 for a level-par 142 total. Former Walker Cup player Ian Hutcheon, one of the pre-tournament favourites over his home course, disqualified himself before the start of the second round.
