PAUL McKECHNIE'S RECORD 62 AT WESTERWOOD

Braid Hills' Paul McKechnie, leading money-winner on the Tartan Tour this year - his latest fifth win was at Bothwell Castle on Sunday, continued his rich seam of form with a brilliant nine-under-par round of 62 over the Westerwood Hotel course at Cumbernauld today.  McKechnie will start the second final round of this third event on the Optical Express Pro Touor with a four-shot lead. He carded two eagles and five birdies. "I played very solidly and really just took my chances when they came along," he said. McKechnie's round is an official course record after the re-development of some new holes last year at Westerwood. Next best is Ladybank's Alan Lockhart on 66, one ahead of Graeme Brown (Montrose Links).Greig Hutcheon opened with a disappointing four over par 75.
