CLACKMANNAN BOYS MISS OUT AT LETHAM GRANGE

With two of the top County boys missing for their own reasons, the Clackmannan Boys were always going to be faced with a difficult task in the annual Gary Harvey Trophy event played at Letham Grange last weekend. The other three Area proved too strong on the day, and their best result was against home area Angus when they almost achieved a drawn match.
On the second day against Perth& Kinross and Fife teams, the boys fell to a 6-2 defeat in both matches. Best performances came from Alva’s Lawrence Allan who won all three of his matches, closely followed by Tillicoultry’s Scott Baird who recorded two wins and a halved match.

MATCH RESULTS
DAY ONE
CLACKMANNAN 3 1/2 ANGUS 4 ½
DAY TWO
CLACKMANNAN 2 FIFE 6
CLACKMANNAN 2 PERTH & KINROSS 6

Perth & Kinross were unbeaten and retained the Gary Harvey Trophy for 2010.

MORE HONOURS FOR LAWRENCE
Alva’s Lawrence Allan continues to make his presence felt on the Scottish Junior golfing scene---- he ahs been selected to play for the Scottish Schools team this weekend in the annual International against English Schools over the Fairhaven course in Lancashire, and in October he will be representing Scotland in the Under 16’s international against England at Dinsdale Golf Club near Darlington.

MIDLANDS TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
The Annual Stroke Play Championship is being held over Balbirnie Golf course in Fife and Clackmannan have a strong team as follows
Michael Robertson, Steve McIvor (Alva) Darren Hulston, Scott Borrowman (Dollar) Alan Watson Scott Moffat (Braehead) Jamie Aitken (Alloa).

MIDLAND ALLIANCE
In the recent competition held over Muckhart golf course, locals continue to feature in the top scores. Tulliallan’s Bob Stewart finished 4th with a 73 and Alloa’s Kenny Thomson with a net 70 took 3rd place in the handicap section.

TOUGH TIME FOR CALLUM
Tulliallan’s Callum Macaulay is still looking for consistent form on the professional golf scene--- he just missed the cut in the last two events. In the Johnnie Walker event at Gleneagles, he made good progress on the outward nine of his second round, but dropped shots on the second nine took him to the wrong side of the cut line. This week Callum is in the field for the Kazakhstan Open—way over in Asia…… Hopefully his luck will change
