Scott Jamieson's biggest payday and he's 20th in Rankings

Glasgow's Scott Jamieson closed with a round of 67 on the final day of the Kazakhstan Open to record the best performance of his Challenge Tour career when it mattered most.
Jamieson notched five birdies – all before the turn – in a flawless round of golf to finish in a three-way tie for second place on 16 under par, five shots behind the winner Alvaro Velasco of Spain.
The Scot went out in 31 shots at Zhailjau Golf Resort in Almaty, Kazakhstan, and parred in after the turn to secure his first top ten finish of the season.
The €32,000 he collected was the biggest payday of his career, and moved him from 71st place in the Challenge Tour Rankings to 20th, with the top 20 securing their European Tour cards at the end of the year.
With just five events – including next week’s inaugural M2M Russian Challenge Cup – left this season, Jamieson’s destiny is now firmly in his own hands.
He said: “I definitely would’ve taken a top two finish at the start of the week, because I haven’t had a top ten all year – so this was a good time to play my best golf of the season. I didn’t drive it very well yesterday, and it’s difficult to control your ball coming out of the semi-rough. But today was much more like it – I hit a lot more fairways and greens, particularly on the front nine, which I seem to like. I didn’t manage to take any of the chances I created on the back nine unfortunately, but overall it was still a very good week.
“At the start of the week my goal was just to get into the top 45 to guarantee my place in the Grand Final, and now that I’ve managed that I have to re-assess my goals and aim for the top 20. Next week’s another big week in Russia, with a decent prize fund, so if I can play well again there, I’ll be very happy.”
