Clark Brechin is local hero in Portlethen Open
Portlethen Golf Club’s 36 hole open was won by the host club’s reigning club champion, Clark Brechin. With rounds of 74 and 66 for four under par 140, Clark’s closing nine-hole score of 29 included seven birdies to leave him six shots clear of Murcar Links’ Neil Sadler.
Sadler scored 77 and 69 for 146, with Ellon Mcdonald’s Bruce Mitchell third with 74 and 73 for 147.
In the handicap section, Portlethen six-handicapper Sam Kiloh was the winner with scores of net 70 and 69, totalling five under par 139
Stonehaven five-handcapper Ian Taylor was second,  having carded back-to-back net 71s, one stroke ahead of G. Wilson of Ladybank (2 handicap and net score of 72, 71 for 143), with a group of four golfers one stroke further back.
