Matthew Cryer wins Alps Tour event by seven strokes

FROM THE ALPS TOUR WEBSITE
Englishman Matthew Cryer made almost all the running to win the Alps Tour's Haugschlag NÖ-Open in Austria with a closing 66 for a 24-under-par total and a seven-stroke winning margin fromand a huge advantage Jann Schmid of Switzerland.
Schmid shot 64, best score of the final day. Czech amateur Tim Gornik tied for third place with Englishman Jason Palmer.
Cryer confessed his day was strange to deal with :
“I had to play nice golf. It was such a strange situation to be comfortably leading. I decided to stay focused and do what I did the previous days. You can be defensive but it was not my choice.
"Now I am in the top six of the Alps Tour order of merit and the goal is to keep that ranking until the tournament in Belgium to avoid the first stage of European Tour Qualifying school.”
Scot Gavin Dear just went out of the top six as Cryer entered. The next three tournaments are going to be very interesting. Nest event is taking place in Madrid next week from Thurday to Saturday (July 8 to 10).
