East is East and West is West ... but pros will meet in July 20 match

What started off as a bit of friendly banter between a couple of golf pros has now turned into a showpiece match between some of the top golf professionals in the country in Edinburgh this summer.
Two teams of 12 from the West and the East of Scotland will battle it out for charity on Tuesday, July 20 at Merchants of Edinburgh Golf Club for the inaugural FB Cup.
“This all started as a chat on Facebook between myself and Gary McFarlane from Clober Golf Club”, said James McGhee of Edinburgh. “Before we knew it we had dozens of golf pros from all over wanting to play so we have restricted it to a 12 a side match, playing in four-balls with singles games included in there as
well”.
The match has now taken on more significance with all the pros doing what they can to raise some money for local charity’s in the West and the East. The winning team will donate 2/3 of all money collected to
their charity with the losers still donating 1/3 to their charity of
choice.
“It’s a great idea for a match” said Neil Colquhoun of the host club. “We are having the match followed by an informal BBQ and we hope that spectators will come along and watch some great golf. It's
free to come along to watch the golf and there will be some fun things going on during the day as well.
Some of the players include recent Scottish PGA Champions Chris Kelly and Craig Ronald as well as some new up and coming golf pros.
