Nick Ward is England boy for R and A Junior Open at Lundin GC

NEWS RELEASE ISSUED BY ENGLISH GOLF UNION
Nick Ward (Redbourn, Hertfordshire), 15, newly crowned Hertfordshire county champion, has been selected to represent The English Golf Union (EGU) in the R and A’s Junior Open at Lundin Golf Club next week (Monday to Wednesday, July 12 to 14).
A member of the England Under 16 Squad, Ward was Herts Under-14 champion in 2007 and Scottish Under-14 champion a year later.
He also carded a course record 61 at his home club of Redbourn in 2008 and a record 65 at Cuddington in 2009.
That same year, he won the North of England Under 14 Championship, tied fourth in the English Under 14 Championship for the Reid Trophy, and was Hertfordshire boys' captain. He recently came third in the Scottish Boys Under 16 Championship.
The R and A Junior Open is played every two years. A total of 60 nations were represented in 2008 at Hesketh and it is hoped there will be even more at Lundin. For many, it will be a first taste of international golf and of representing their country. Open to boys and girls, the age limit is 16 years.
