Scots students go cross country to
watch last day of Ryder Cup

Scottish newcomers to the US college golf scene as students at Davis & Elkins College, West Virginia, Alasdair Forsythe from Glasgow and Calum Grant from Linlithgow made the trip across country - the United Stages is a BIG country - to watch the last day of the Ryder Cup match at Louisville, Kentucky.
"I think it was a great team bonding trip, a chance to see some outstanding play/players, electric atmosphere, amazing venue, etc," writes Scott D Goddard, Assistant Dean of Students & Head Golf Coch at Davis & Elkins, in one of his regular news latters.
For some so far unexplained reason, Calum Grant is not being allowed to play in college golf tournaments by the NCAA.
Mr Goddard refers to the situation without throwing any light on it:
"Calum Grant continues to deal with the NCAA concerning his eligibility status. Currently I’m working in concert with Mr. Shaw to get to the bottom of the issues. As soon, as we have news I will pass it along. Please keep Calum in your prayers. The NCAA is beating him up a bit," writes Mr Goddard.
Alasdair Forsythe has already played himself into the No 1 slot in the Davis & Elkins College golf team.
For their next tournament, Mr Goddard writes:
"We will be wearing Adidas polos with khaki shorts/pants on Monday and Ralph Lauren polos with khaki shorts/pants on Tuesday. I will need a little more time to ponder the line-up. I would like to see if Calum will be cleared to compete before making my decision. This is what I’m thinking currently: Alasdair Forsythe (1), Cory Dillinger (2), Bobby Dalton (3), ? (4), ? (5).
In their most recent tournament, the Hal Hansen Invitational at Clarion Oaks, Clarion, Pennsylvania, Davis & Elkins finished 13th of 18 teams behind Ohio Valley, the team winners by seven shots. Gavin Stirling from Glasgow was a member of the title-winning Ohio Valley University team.
Gavin also finished on the same joint 22nd mark as Alasdair Forsythe. Gavin scored 79 and 74 for 153 - 12 shots behind the joint winners (J C Beecroft, Ohio Valley: 70-71 & Jared Schjmader, Clarion, 74-67). Alasdair Forsythe had scores of 74 and 79.
