European Tour School First Qualifying Stage

Craigielaw's Elliot Saltman made a flying start to his bid to get to the European Tour Final Qualifying School with a five-under-par first round of 67 in the First Qualifying Stage Section B event at The Oxfordshire Golf Club today.
That was good enough to share fourth place, two strokes behind joint leaders, Steven Ritchie, Jamie Elson and Chris Wood who turned pro after winning the amateur Silver Medal with a fifth place finish in the Open at Royal Birkdale in July.
Scott Henderson (King Links) still hankers to return to the Euro Tour where he was Rookie of the Year in 1997. He began brightly enough with a 68 and was joined on that mark by Scott Jamieson from Glasgow and Comrie amateur Wallace Booth, the Scottish amateur stroke-play champion.
Callum Macaulay, the Scottish amateur title-holder from Tulliallan, was another Scot to break 70 - he returned a 69. Tartan Tour money leader and Northern Open champion Chris Doak and Murrayshall amateur Gavin Dear both posted 70s.
The leading 30 and ties at all three venues will advance to the next stage at four Spanish venues from November 5 to 8.
Then comes the Final Qualifying School at PGA Golf de Catalunya over six rounds from November 13 to 18.
