CRAIG MATHESON LEADS YOUNG PROS
CHAMPIONSHIP FIELD AT MUCKHART

Falkirk Tryst's Craig Matheson headed the qualifiers for the final two rounds of the weather-hit Scottish Young Professionals' golf championship at Muckhart Golf Club today.
After Tuesday's play was washed out, the scheduled four-round tournament was cut to 54 holes with a cut to leading 40 and ties after the first round.
Matheson shot a five-under-par 66 to lead by one shot from Steven Duncan (Balbirnie Park) and Greg McBain (Royal Dornoch).
Matheson bogeyed the first hole but that was the only blemish in halves of 32 (two under par) and 33 (three under). He birdied the fifth, seventh, eighth, 13th, 15th and 18th.
Duncan highlighted his halves of 35 and 32 with an eagle 2 at the 281yd 15th.
A total of 40 players with scores of 74 or better qualified for the final day.
