MacLean out to halt Anderson glory
run in Drumpellier semi-finals

Ronald MacLean (Hamilton), the fourth qualifier, is the highest seed left in Friday morning's semi-finals of the Scottish senior men's amateur match-play championship at Drumpellier Golf Club.
MacLean, winner by one hole over home-course favourite Alan Ferguson, will play the 16th qualifier, Henry Anderson (Glenbervie) for a place in the final. Anderson was three under par in winning by 5 and 4 against Ron MacLellan (Turnberry).
Aberdeen's George Paterson (Northern), the seventh qualifier and conqueror of the No 2 seed Derek Murphy (Kinross) by 5 and 4 with three-under-par figures in their quarter-final tie, will play the Scottish seniors' champion Bob Stewart (Tulliallan), who qualified in 22nd position for the match-play stages.
Stewart reached the last four with a 20th hole win over Gordon MacDonald, the inspiration for the Scottish seniors' circuit and a former national and Spanish over-55s champion. i
In the morning second-round ties, top seed Iain Stewart (The Curragh) lost by one hole to Henry Anderson.
David Smith (Stirling) misread his morning starting time and arrived too late for his tie with George Paterson who was given a walk-over into the quarter-finals.
