McKnight lying second in
Chiberta Grand Prix
Caprington's Robert McKnight is spearheading the British challenge at the halfway stage of the Chiberta Grand Prix golf tournament at Biarritz in southwest France.
In a low-scoring tournament, McKnight has scored 65 and 68 for 133 but is five shots behind the pacemaker, Frenchman Guillaume Cambis (63-65).
England's Billy Hemstock is in third place with two rounds to go. He has had scores of 68 and 66 for 134.
Stirling University student James White (Lundin) and England's Jason Palmer are lying joint sixth on 137. White has scored 67 and 70, Palmer 68 and 69.
Matthew Clark (Kilmacolm), the third Scot in the field, is tied for ninth place with England's Farren Keenan on 138. Clark has scored 67 and 71, Keenan 68 and 70. There are 121 players taking part but no British or Irish competitors in the women's Grand Prix.
Duncan Stewart (Grantown on Spey) won the Chiberta Grand Prix two or three years ago before he turned professional.
