Scott Henry is form choice
for Sutherland Chalice
Former Scottish open amateur stroke-play champion Scott Henry finished like a train last Sunday but left himself too much ground to make up and finished runner-up to Derek Addison (Kilmarnock Barassie) in the Cameron Corbett Vase at Haggs Castle.
The Scottish Golf Union 72-hole Order of Merit circuit moves on to Dumfries & Galloway Golf Club this weekend and the Sutherland Chalice.
Addison, a surprise winner last Sunday, is not in the field and if Henry (pictured right by Cal Carson Golf Agency), can start this one in the manner he closed it at Haggs Castle - a pair of 68s for the lowest aggregate for the final two rounds - then he is the man they all have to beat.
Not that it will be a one-horse race by any means. Greg Paterson (St Andrews New) was the surprise Sutherland Chalice winner with an aggregate of 264 last year but it has to be said he has been something of a one-hit wonder.
Henry has more to look over his shoulder at in the likes of Wallace Booth (Comrie), Scott Borrowman (Dollar) and former Scottish champion Glenn Campbell (Blairgowrie), who were joint third in the Cameron Corbett Vase, Paul O'Hara (Colville Park), the evergreen Craig Watson (East Renfrewshire), Ross Kellett (Colville Park) and Steven McEwan (Caprington) to name but a few possible contenders.
