McCreadie closes money gap on
Doak with Newmachar win
New Gleneagles Scottish PGA champion Jason McCreadie closed the gap on Tartan Tour money leader Chris Doak to just over £2,000 when he won the Newmachar pro-am by two strokes over the Dave Thomas-designed Hawkshill course today.
It was McCreadie's sixth win of the season all achieved since June the 4 when he started the ball rolling at Pollok and has kept up the moment at Wishaw, Ayr Belleisle, Strathaven, Torrance House, Gleneagles and now Newmachar.
McCreadie's three-under-par round of 69 won him the top prize on the day of £921 by two shots from Alan Lockhart (Ladybank), Callum Nicoll (Prestwick), host-club pro Andrew Cooper and Lindsay Mann (Carnoustie).
They each earned £509 for their quadruple tie for second place.
Chris Doak was not in the Newmachar field so the long-time leader of the PGA Scottish Region money table did not add to his £27,680 total.
But McCreadie, who earned £9,00 for winning the Scottish title last Sunday, moved up to £25,198 with this latest success.
Steven Taylor (Bothwell Castle) led the Concept Group amateur trio of Graham Lawrie, Mike Dickie and Mike Robertson to victory in the team event with a net total of 12-under-par 132.
