JAMES BYRNE IMPROVES IN US

COLLEGE CHAMPIONSHIP

Banchory's James Byrne moved up to joint 54th position in a quality
field of 156 players after 36 holes of the NCAA Division 1 college golf
championship over a very long and testing Kampen course, West
Lafayette, Indiana.
Byrne has scored 78 and 74 for a halfway total of eight-over-par 152
over a 7450yd, par-72 course. James achieved his four-shot improvement
despite a double bogey 5 at a short hole for the second day in a row.
The Scotland international, starting at the 10th, did birdie the 14th,
15th, first and sixth.
Billy Horschel (Florida) leads by a shot with scores of 72 and 67 for
five-under-par 139.
