Long-time leader Garrido loses Seville play-off

Irish eyes are smiling again as Peter
Lawrie wins Spanish play-off

Dubliner Peter Lawrie made it three Irish wins in a row on the European Tour when he beat Ignacio Garrido at the second hole of a dramatic play-off for the Spanish Open in Seville.
After four birdies in his last six holes Lawrie looked set to win without sudden death action until Garrido closed with a 30ft birdie putt to tie on 15 under par.
Then it was Garrido who was poised to take a title when he pitched to three feet but Lawrie this time converted a 25-footer for the hole to be shared in birdie 3s and then Garrido saw his next pitch to the same green spin back into the water.
Garrido had started the final round with a clear lead but dropped a heap of shots halfway through his round.
Another Spaniard, Miguel Angel Jimenez, took up the running then but he too let victory slip through his fingers.
