England supplied the winner - Matthew Haines - and the runner-up - Dale Whitnell - in the Lytham Trophy over 72 holes at Royal Lytham & St Anne's.
Top Scots, in joint sixth place, were Gavin Dear (Murrayshall) and Mark Halliday (Royal Aberdeen), the surprise packet of the tournament from Scotland's point of view.
Not even on the fringes of international selection, Halliday (picture right by courtesy of Cal Carson Golf Agency, all rights reserved) put together rounds of 74, 71, 70 and 74 for a total of 289, compared with Dear's efforts of 71, 70, 74 and 74.
Next best Scot, in 10th place, was Paul O'Hara (Colville Park) with his new swing, courtesy of Alan White, the Lanark pro.
Keir McNicoll (Carnoustie) was a shot behind in joint 11th place on 292.
