Aberdeen youngster wins at Whitekirk

HAPPY BIRTHDAY FOR
DAVID LAW IN SGU
JUNIOR TOUR EVENT

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
Aberdeen youngster David Law celebrated his 17th birthday in style today by winning the Scottish Golf Union Junior Tour's third event, at Whitekirk Golf Club.
Hazlehead member Law shot rounds of 69 and 72 for a three-under-par total of 141.
He finished two strokes clear of James Ross (Royal Burgess) who had scores of 71 and 72.
In a triple tie for third place on 145 were Daniel Young (Craigie Hill) (73-72), Stuart Boyle (Harburn) (73-72), Andrew McLachlan (Bonnyton) (73-72) and Mark Bookless (Sandyhills) (71-74).
Law put his stamp on the tournament when he went clear of the field with an opening bogey-free round of 69 in which he birdied the 12th, 13th and 18th.
His second round was a bit more adventurous with birdies at the second, fourth, 14th and 18th, a double bogey 5 at the short eighth and single shots dropped at the third and 15th for a par-matching 72.
Scottish boys' match-play champion Michael Stewart (Troon Welbeck) finished joint 19th with scores of 77 and 75 for 152.
