URQUHART ON COURSE FOR SOUTH
AFRICAN TOUR CARD
Northern Open champion Murray Urquhart from Inverness, the only Scot in the field, is on target to win one of the 40 players' cards for next month's South African PGA Tour at the Sunshine Tour's Qualifying School.
Urquhart, who played on the Challenge Tour and the Tartan Tour this year, had a third-round, one under par 71 at the Country Club of Johannesburg's Woodlands course today for a 54-hole tally of one-under-par 215 to be lying joint 18th of the 64 players with totals of 220 or better who qualified for the final round.
The Scot had birdies at the third, foufrth, seventh and 17th and bogeys at the second, 15th and 18th in halves of 34 (two under par) and 37 (one over par).
The leading 40 and ties at the end of Friday's fourth round will gain playing rights on the South African circuit.
Jeremy Kavanagh from Hertfordshire is tied for the lead on 13-under-par 203 with South Africans Martin Maritz and amateur Oliver Bekker.
