FRANK COOLS OFF WITH A 68 BUT LEADS
US TOUR QUALIFYING SCHOOL BY
FIVE SHOTS AT HALFWAY STAGE
Frank Lickliter tagged on a less spectacular but still highly efficient four-under-par 68 to his opening rounds - a pair of 10-under 62s - to have a five-shot lead at the halfway point of the six-round US PGA Tour Final Qualifying School at Winter Garden, Florida.
The top 25 finishers and ties will earn cards for 2008, while the next number of players nearest 50 will get full Nationwide Tour exemptions. The remaining players in the 166-man field will receive conditional Nationwide Tour status.
The 38-year-old Lickliter, a two-time winner on the tour, has a 24-under 192 total, the lowest 54-hole score since the tour began keeping such statistics in 1992.
Jason Allred is lying second after a 64 at Panther Lake, and Tommy Gainey shot a 65 at Panther Lake to move into third place at 16 under.
Next comes Jim McGoven (68) at 14 under par, followed by Travis Perkins (69) at 13 under and Tag Ridings (67), Brett Rumford (68), Alejandro Canizares (70) and Brendon de Jonge (71) at 12 under.
England's Kenneth Ferrie is lying joint 38th on 209 after three steady rounds of 69, 70 and 70. Compatriot Greg Owen is on the same mark with similar rounds.
